Criteria for Second Degree Students
You are considered a second-degree student if you already have a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or an equivalent degree and want to obtain another undergraduate degree. If you graduated with a 学士学位 from a foreign university, a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved provider must be completed to demonstrate the equivalence of a U.S. 学士学位. Please note that a first professional degree (e.g., Doctor of 医学) is not the equivalent of a U.S. 学士学位 unless an evaluation explicitly states it as such. Several applicants have experienced success using SpanTran for their course-by-course evaluation, as they typically provide this equivalency statement for those who have earned professional degrees.
Each 学术部门 determines the specific admissions criteria for second-degree students. Students holding a bachelor’s degree or higher who wish to enroll for the purpose of obtaining an Initial Michigan Provisional Teaching Certificate should apply as a second-degree seeking student.
